Najja Porter has been drawing since she could hold a pencil and scribble all over her parents' furniture. Now slightly more mature, she's managed to make a living out of her drawings. Having graduated from the Art Institute of Tampa, she has worked for companies such as Humoring the Fates, League Entertainment, and Echo Bridge Pictures, having animated on projects such as Major Lazer and Axe Cop. She has also taken part in Nickelodeon's Artist Program as a storyboard artist. Currently, she spends much of her free time working on her own personal comics.
Character and Story are the primary focus of my artwork. I aim to illustrate stories that will move the viewer to immerse themselves in the world I have created. A world that fills them with overwhelming emotion evoked by their own understanding and empathy. The medium I chose, the character and background designs, and the color and lighting I use to execute these stories are merely the meat and skin that help bring the fiction to life. Without strong bones, even a seemingly healthy body will fall flat. I realize the power and capabilities a medium such as animation can provide to others. Perched upon my own personal experiences, I have an insatiable inclination to build characters and worlds that live, breathe, think, and feel.
